STEM Education Advisory Committee

The STEM Education Advisory Committee (STEM EAC) is a sub-committee of the Governor’s PK-16 Council. This committee advises the STEM Education Program manager regarding communication and coordination of the recomendations included in Project Making the Grade – An Action Plan for Rhode Island.

The representative membership of this comittee includes: K-12 educators, higher education faculty, business and industry, informal education programs, and related departments and agencies of Rhode Island state government.

Public outreach and communication is a key element of Rhode Island’s STEM education improvement initiative. The STEM EAC oversees the development and operation of Rhode Island’s STEM web portal to:

  • broaden public awareness and support for the importance of STEM education,
  • promote the array of available STEM education opportunities,
  • publicize student and teacher achievements,
  • provide a clearinghouse of information about events and resources.
